An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and forward-thinking Ward Sister at Ramsay Health Care.

Ramsay Health Care provides exceptional care and services for elective surgical patients across a diverse range of surgical specialties including Urology, Gynaecology, Colorectal, Orthopaedic, ENT, General Surgery, Cosmetics, and Plastics. We also cater to some Medical patients.

The ideal candidate will possess current NMC registration, significant management experience in a comparable role, and a proven ability to lead a team while enhancing nursing services. With outstanding organizational and communication skills, the successful applicant will oversee the daily operational management of the Wards, ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients throughout their stay. The Wards at Ramsay Health Care comprise two units: Day Care and In-Patients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit exemplary clinical practice at all times and be accountable for personal actions.
  • Act as Clinical Shift Lead for the Wards.
  • Take the lead on key Quality Governance areas to demonstrate safe, effective care, such as Infection Prevention, Clinical Effectiveness, and Audit.
  • Identify and implement best practices in Ward Care and Service Delivery, adhering to NICE Guidance and NCEPOD.
  • Prioritize workloads and direct staff accordingly.
  • Utilize available resources efficiently while considering budgetary constraints and business objectives.
  • Assess, plan, and evaluate care based on individual patient and family needs.
  • Encourage multidisciplinary teamwork to maximize service delivery effectiveness, collaborating with Consultants, Allied Health Professionals, RMO, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, and Administrative Staff.
  • Evaluate team performance and ensure standards are consistently met.
  • Ensure clinical audits and quality assessment procedures are conducted to evaluate care delivery quality.
  • Continuously seek to enhance clinical skills and care delivery to meet service user expectations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and management to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff, and colleagues.
  • Support and serve as a role model for junior staff in a learning environment, assessing training needs and ensuring they are met.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained in good working order and meets departmental needs.
  • Assist the Ward Manager in maintaining accurate patient records and staff competencies.

Essential for the Post:

  • Strong clinical background in surgical nursing.
  • Proficient computing skills.
  • Completion of SLIP course or equivalent.
  • NMC- Registered General Nurse.
  • ALS / ILS certification.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • A comprehensive understanding of relevant legal and professional care/practice standards, with evidence of supporting ongoing professional development in Nursing Practice.
