An exciting opportunity has emerged for a dedicated and forward-thinking Ward Sister within Ramsay Health Care.

Ramsay Health Care specializes in providing exceptional care and services for elective surgical patients across a diverse range of surgical specialties, including Urology, Gynaecology, Colorectal, Orthopaedic, ENT, General Surgery, Cosmetics, and Plastics, along with a selection of Medical patients.

The ideal candidate will possess current NMC registration and substantial management experience in a comparable role, demonstrating a proven ability to lead a team and enhance nursing services. With outstanding organizational and communication skills, the candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operational management of the Wards while ensuring exemplary standards of care for all patients throughout their stay. The Wards at Ramsay Health Care comprise two areas: Day Care and In-Patients.

We seek an experienced nurse with a robust background in acute surgical and high-dependency care. Ramsay Health Care is embarking on an exciting strategy to develop enhanced care beds to accommodate the increasing acuity and complexity of elective surgery.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate previous leadership experience and a passion for delivering exceptional clinical and customer care, with a clear commitment to effective teamwork and communication skills that support the commercial success of the organization.

Candidates must have experience in developing clinical services and the capability to educate and support junior staff in delivering competent clinical care. We are looking for someone with innovative ideas who can lead the Ward team in achieving 'Outstanding' ratings across all CQC domains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit exemplary clinical practice at all times and take accountability for personal actions.
  • Serve as Clinical Shift Lead for the Wards.
  • Oversee key Quality Governance areas to ensure safe and effective care, including Infection Prevention, Clinical Effectiveness, and Audit.
  • Identify and implement best practices in Ward Care and Service Delivery, adhering to NICE Guidance and NCEPOD.
  • Prioritize workloads and direct staff accordingly.
  • Utilize available resources efficiently, considering budgetary constraints and business objectives.
  • Assess, plan, and evaluate care based on individual patient and family needs.
  • Promote multidisciplinary teamwork to maximize service delivery effectiveness, collaborating with Consultants, Allied Health Professionals, RMO, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, and Administrative Staff.
  • Evaluate team performance and ensure standards are consistently met.
  • Ensure clinical audit and quality assessment procedures are conducted to evaluate care delivery quality.
  • Continuously seek to enhance clinical skills and care delivery to meet service user expectations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and management to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff, and colleagues.
  • Act as a role model for junior staff, fostering a learning environment, assessing training needs, and ensuring they are met.
  • Ensure equipment is well-maintained and meets departmental needs.
  • Assist the Ward Manager in maintaining accurate patient records and staff competencies.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Strong clinical background in surgical nursing.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Completion of SLIP course or equivalent.
  • NMC- Registered General Nurse.
  • ALS / ILS certification.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
