Senior Lecturer in Engineering Geology

The School of Earth and Environment is looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Engineering Geology (Teaching and Scholarship).

You will be part of a vibrant community within the Engineering Geology, Rock Mechanics, and Hydrogeology team at the University of Leeds. Your role will involve making a substantial impact on the education of students in postgraduate and undergraduate courses, particularly focusing on geotechnical site assessments. You will be responsible for leading modules, lectures, and workshops for both undergraduate and Master’s degree programs, especially our MSc in Engineering Geology and the associated Level 7 (Masters) Degree Apprenticeship, along with undergraduate studies in geosciences and engineering. Additionally, you will engage in relevant administrative responsibilities.

Candidates should hold a PhD in Geosciences, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field, with a solid background in either academic or industrial settings relevant to the discipline. Furthermore, you should demonstrate leadership capabilities (e.g., in course management or commercial projects) and possess the potential to teach effectively across all levels of higher education, including practical field-based instruction. The ability to foster effective partnerships to deliver a practical curriculum with excellent employability outcomes is highly desirable.

As a lecturer, your responsibilities will include designing and delivering educational content and assessments, supervising student projects, engaging in pedagogical research, and fulfilling administrative duties within the School, Faculty, and University. You will also contribute to academic leadership in the field of Engineering Geology, with a particular emphasis on geotechnical site investigations.

This position will primarily be based on the university campus, with opportunities for hybrid working arrangements. We are also open to discussing flexible work options.
