Senior Lecturer in Engineering Geology

The School of Earth and Environment is looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Engineering Geology (Teaching and Scholarship).
You will become part of a vibrant community within the Engineering Geology, Rock Mechanics, and Hydrogeology department at the University of Leeds. Your role will involve making a substantial contribution to the education of students in postgraduate and undergraduate courses, particularly focusing on geotechnical site investigation. You will be responsible for leading modules, delivering lectures, and conducting workshops for both undergraduate and Master’s programs, with a special emphasis on our MSc in Engineering Geology and the associated Level 7 (Masters) Degree Apprenticeship, as well as undergraduate courses in geosciences and engineering. Additionally, you will engage in relevant administrative responsibilities.
A PhD in Geosciences, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field is required, along with a solid background in either academic or industrial settings in a relevant discipline. You should also demonstrate leadership capabilities (such as leading courses or commercial projects) and the potential to teach effectively across all levels of higher education, including field-based instruction. The ability to foster effective partnerships to deliver a practical curriculum with excellent employability outcomes is highly desirable.
In your capacity as a lecturer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing teaching and assessment strategies, supervising student projects, engaging in pedagogical research, and fulfilling administrative duties within the School, Faculty, and University. You will also contribute to academic leadership in the domain of Engineering Geology, with a specific focus on geotechnical site investigation.
This position will primarily be based on the university campus, with opportunities for hybrid working arrangements. We are also open to discussing flexible work options.
