Senior Lecturer in Engineering Geology

The School of Earth and Environment is on the lookout for a Senior Lecturer in Engineering Geology (Teaching and Scholarship).

Joining a vibrant community within the Engineering Geology, Rock Mechanics, and Hydrogeology department at the University of Leeds, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality education in geotechnical site investigation. Your responsibilities will include leading modules, conducting lectures, and facilitating workshops for both undergraduate and Master's degree programs, particularly focusing on our MSc in Engineering Geology and the associated Level 7 Degree Apprenticeship, alongside undergraduate offerings in geosciences and engineering. You will also be tasked with various administrative responsibilities.

Candidates should hold a PhD in Geosciences, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field, with relevant experience in either academic or industrial settings. Demonstrated leadership capabilities (such as course or project management) and the ability to teach effectively across all educational levels, including field-based instruction, are essential. A proven track record in building partnerships to deliver a practical curriculum with strong employability outcomes is highly desirable.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing teaching and assessment strategies, supervising student projects, engaging in pedagogical research, and fulfilling administrative duties within the School, Faculty, and University. You will also contribute to academic leadership in Engineering Geology, particularly in the area of geotechnical site investigation.

This position will primarily be based on the university campus, with opportunities for hybrid working arrangements. We are also open to discussing flexible work options.
