Position Overview

Embark on the Serious and Complex Crime Investigator Apprenticeship (SCCI) and earn your accreditation as a National Crime Agency (NCA) Investigator. Take a stand against Serious and Organised Crime while safeguarding the public from the most perilous offenders. This program is designed to enhance your learning, knowledge, and skills, preparing you to effectively target and confront those who pose the greatest threats to the UK.

Role Description

The National Crime Agency (NCA) spearheads the UK's efforts against Serious and Organised Crime, dedicated to protecting the public from high-risk criminals. We are focused on attracting fresh talent by recruiting apprentices who will evolve into proficient accredited investigators.

The NCA SCCI Apprentice role does not require prior law enforcement experience. All successful candidates will be enrolled in the SCCI Apprenticeship program, which merges academic learning with essential practical skills and knowledge necessary to become an NCA Investigator. This structured training program spans two and a half years, during which apprentices must demonstrate competence across various investigational, intelligence, and analytical skills.

Upon successful completion of the SCCI Apprenticeship and obtaining accreditation as an NCA Investigator, you will be equipped to engage in serious and organised crime investigations at a national level.

These positions are vital to the Agency's mission to combat Serious and Organised Crime and provide the opportunity to earn a degree while developing expertise in both overt and covert investigations, leading to diverse career paths within the NCA.

Important Note: All candidates must successfully complete vetting procedures.

Key Responsibilities

As an NCA Investigator, your duties will vary daily, including office-based investigations, preparing case files, field deployments, attending crime scenes, apprehending suspects, interviewing witnesses, leading investigations, and safeguarding vulnerable individuals. A dynamic work ethic and strong teamwork skills are essential to adapt to changing demands.

The successful candidates will undertake a comprehensive six-month training course, committing full-time to university studies until they complete an examination. Post-training, you will work within the NCA, dedicating 20% of your working hours to learning and development throughout the apprenticeship.

Application Requirements

  • Applicants must have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4/C or equivalent, including Mathematics and English.
  • 96 UCAS points from 3 A Levels at grade C or above, or a BTEC Extended Diploma (merit, merit, merit), or a full T Level at Pass (A*-C).
  • Overseas qualifications must be validated with a Statement of Comparability from UK ENIC.
  • Applicants should have resided in the UK for at least the last three years prior to the apprenticeship start date.
  • Those with equivalent or higher qualifications in the same subject area are not eligible for the apprenticeship.
