London, Greater London, United Kingdom National Crime Agency Full time

Job Overview

Embark on the Serious and Complex Crime Apprenticeship (SCCI) and become a certified investigator with the National Crime Agency (NCA). This program is designed to empower you to combat Serious and Organised Crime, ensuring public safety against high-risk offenders. You will receive comprehensive training, enhancing your skills and knowledge to effectively pursue those who threaten the UK.

Role Description

The NCA spearheads the UK's efforts against Serious and Organised Crime, safeguarding citizens from the most severe threats. We are dedicated to nurturing new talent by bringing apprentices into our ranks and developing them into proficient investigators.

As an NCA SCCI Apprentice, no prior law enforcement experience is necessary. All selected candidates will enroll in the SCCI Apprenticeship program, which merges academic learning with essential practical skills and knowledge to become an NCA Investigator. This structured training spans two and a half years, during which you will demonstrate competence across various investigative, intelligence, and analytical skills.

Upon successful completion of the SCCI Apprenticeship and achieving NCA investigator accreditation, you will be equipped to engage in serious and organised crime investigations to a national standard.

Your role is vital to the Agency's mission to reduce Serious and Organised Crime, offering the chance to earn a degree while developing expertise in both overt and covert investigations, leading to diverse career opportunities within the NCA.

Important Notes:

All candidates must successfully pass vetting procedures. Candidates will be expected to travel for educational commitments.

Person Specification

As an NCA investigator, your daily tasks will vary significantly. You may work in an office setting investigating serious offenders and preparing case files, or you could be deployed in the field, attending crime scenes, apprehending suspects, interviewing witnesses, leading investigations, or safeguarding vulnerable individuals. A flexible and dynamic work ethic is essential, along with strong teamwork abilities to adapt to changing demands.

The successful candidates will undertake a comprehensive six-month course, committing to full-time study until they complete an examination. Following this, you will transition to working within the NCA, dedicating 20% of your working hours to ongoing learning and development as part of your apprenticeship.

Application Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4/C or equivalent, including Mathematics and English.
  • 96 UCAS points from 3 A Levels at C grade or above, or a BTEC Extended Diploma (merit, merit, merit), or full T Levels achieved at Pass (A*-C).
  • For overseas qualifications, a Statement of Comparability from UK ENIC is required.
  • Candidates must have resided in the UK for at least the past three years prior to the start of the apprenticeship.
  • Those with equivalent or higher qualifications in the same subject area are not eligible for the apprenticeship.

  • Effective communication and influence.
