Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity is available within our Community Respiratory Team. Collaborating with a dedicated group of Respiratory Specialist Nurses, Physiotherapists, and Clinical Support Workers, the selected candidate will play a vital role in managing chronic lung diseases and reducing hospital admissions through comprehensive assessment, support, education, and monitoring of patients with intricate respiratory issues in their residences.

Delivering Pulmonary Rehabilitation sessions is a key aspect of this role, where the incumbent will be pivotal in conducting weekly exercise and educational classes, both in-person and virtually, aimed at preventing the progression of various respiratory ailments. The role also involves contributing to the National Accreditation of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation program.

This is an exciting time to join the Community Respiratory Team, which emphasizes continuous education and professional growth.

This position requires travel to various locations, including patients' homes and online engagements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide expert physiotherapy assessment and treatment for patients, including those with highly complex conditions, and develop tailored treatment plans.

2. Coordinate and lead pulmonary rehabilitation sessions across the designated area.

3. As a member of the multidisciplinary Respiratory Team, adopt a holistic approach to patient management, recognizing patients' expertise in their own care.

4. Conduct formal educational sessions within your area of expertise for patients, pulmonary rehabilitation groups, and multidisciplinary colleagues.

5. Offer specialized advice and support to multidisciplinary team members within the organization.

6. Engage in evidence-based audits and research projects as required, contributing to service development and exploring innovative practices.

7. Mentor and assess the performance of physiotherapy students and junior staff through supervision, training, and evaluations.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Experience in managing patients with a variety of respiratory conditions
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a caseload

Desirable:

  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate education
  • Previous experience at Band 6 level
  • Experience in pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Experience in supervising and developing junior staff
