As a Senior Planning Specialist at Gatwick Airport, you will witness the significant influence your contributions have on the dynamic environment of the airport and the experience of our travelers. This position provides you with exclusive insights and places you at the forefront of delivering comprehensive planning services for the projects you oversee.

In this Senior Planner (Major Projects) position, you will take charge of some of our most intricate and compelling projects, typically valued at over £50 million. You will guide and mentor junior planners, collaborate with skilled professionals across the broader team, and ultimately ensure the effective use of resources to achieve project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Programme Planning Manager, you will be an integral part of the Construction team, accountable for schedule creation, oversight, recovery strategies, and reporting.

Your additional responsibilities will include:

  • Crafting and managing comprehensive delivery schedules with clear objectives and a thorough understanding of all activities and interactions that facilitate the successful completion of projects.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders, including contractors, project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to discuss project statuses.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to team members regarding best practices and the effective use of schedules to meet project goals.
  • Conducting schedule monitoring, which includes identifying critical tasks and participating in risk management and mitigation strategies.

Candidate Profile:

The dynamic environment at Gatwick Airport necessitates that all our teams adopt a flexible and adaptable approach to problem-solving, along with an innovative mindset. Engaged in projects from inception to completion, you will collaborate with various stakeholders. Additionally, this role requires:

  • Prior experience as a Senior Planner on projects typically exceeding £20 million in value.
  • A relevant qualification or recent demonstrable analytical experience in a STEM or construction-related field.
  • Proficiency in managing complex projects and familiarity with Primavera software (P6), MS Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in a live operational environment is preferred, although airport-specific experience is not mandatory.
