This position offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with Gatwick's sustainability initiatives. As part of a diverse team of construction specialists, you will be involved from the project's inception, defining technical requirements, aligning project execution with business objectives, and ensuring seamless transitions from design to construction and final handover.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Programme Construction Manager, you will be instrumental in the successful execution of complex projects at Gatwick Airport. You will work closely with internal teams and contractors to ensure projects are completed effectively and efficiently.

Your additional responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and mentoring construction management resources assigned to your projects, fostering skill development and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Conducting regular safety engagements on projects to ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) regulations and promoting a positive safety culture.
  • Reviewing contractor submissions for compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Inspecting work to ensure alignment with project specifications and drawings.
  • Collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to ensure all installations meet project plans.

Candidate Profile:

The fast-paced environment at Gatwick requires a flexible and adaptable mindset, along with strong problem-solving abilities and innovative thinking. You will engage with multiple stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience managing significant mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and heating projects.
  • A strong understanding of project closeout and handover processes.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Field Engineer or Section Engineer, managing complex, multi-million-pound projects.
  • Experience in leading small teams effectively.
  • Knowledge of HSE issues related to construction.
  • Familiarity with quality management principles.
