As a Lead Field Engineer at Gatwick Airport, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency of one of the world's leading runway airports. In a dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to excellence in their work.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing key initiatives such as the implementation of all-electric heating systems and the adoption of eco-friendly refrigerants. Your expertise will be vital in driving Gatwick's ambitious sustainability objectives, particularly the target of reducing emissions by 2030.

This position offers a unique opportunity to directly influence Gatwick's path towards achieving Net Zero. As part of a diverse team of construction specialists, you will engage in projects from their inception, defining technical requirements, aligning project execution with business goals, and ensuring seamless transitions from design to construction and final handover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Programme Construction Manager, you will be instrumental in the successful execution of complex projects at Gatwick Airport.
  • Collaborating closely with internal teams and contractors to ensure projects are completed effectively and efficiently.
  • Leading and mentoring construction management resources, fostering skill development and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Conducting regular safety engagements on projects to uphold Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and promote a positive safety culture.
  • Reviewing contractor submissions for compliance with quality and safety regulations.
  • Inspecting construction work to ensure adherence to specifications and design documents.
  • Coordinating with engineering teams to ensure that all installations are executed according to the project plan.

Qualifications:

The dynamic environment at Gatwick necessitates a flexible and innovative approach. You will be involved in projects from start to finish, collaborating with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience managing significant mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and heating projects.
  • A strong understanding of project closeout and handover processes.
  • Experience as a Senior Field Engineer or Section Engineer, with a track record of managing complex, multi-million-pound projects.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing small teams.
  • Knowledge of HSE considerations in construction.
  • Familiarity with quality management principles.
