We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at London Gatwick Airport. As a key member of our commercial team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of our strategic aims and objectives through effective cost estimation and management.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Cost Estimation Efforts: Apply our standard processes to deliver accurate early-stage financial estimates and cost plans, ensuring cost control and successful project completion within allocated budgets.
- Support Commercial Strategy: Collaborate with the Lead Commercial Manager to develop and maintain processes and procedures for estimating, benchmarking, and targeting costs, aligned with industry best practices.
- Project Support: Assist project teams in applying cost estimation and benchmarking processes, ensuring comprehensive and clear engagement with stakeholders.
- Cost Management: Manage the utilisation of cost management structures to facilitate transparent cost comparisons throughout the project lifecycle, including contractor tender submissions.
- Template Development: Design, develop, and maintain standard templates in our Integrated Benchmarking & Estimating tool to present the basis of estimates, covering essential assumptions, omissions, allowances, and risk items.
- Benchmarking and Community Engagement: Foster relationships with other airports and client organisations to establish a range of external benchmarks supporting value and capital efficiency demonstrations.
- Cost-Effectiveness Metrics: Define and produce metrics for evaluating the cost-effectiveness of project estimates.
- Education: Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering, construction, or business-related field.
- Professional Membership: Membership in a professionally recognised cost organisation, such as RICS, is highly desirable.
- Experience: Proven experience as a Cost Planner/Senior Estimator on multi-year programmes/projects with a value typically above £50m in a relevant industry.
- Business Process Design: Experience in designing business processes for cost estimating, including the implementation of standardised Cost Breakdown Structures, preferably within a high-performing organisation.
- Infrastructure Project Delivery: Experience in delivering infrastructure projects in a live operational environment is highly desirable.
