Teaching Personnel is looking for a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Assistant to work in a secondary school rated 'Good' by Ofsted. This full-time role is designed for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with additional learning requirements.

Position Overview:

As a SEN Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the educational support framework, collaborating closely with students who have Special Educational Needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Individualized Student Support: Delivering customized assistance to students with SEN, enabling them to engage with the curriculum effectively. This may involve working directly with students or in small groups, modifying educational resources, and applying specific techniques to cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Classroom Support: Aiding teachers in lesson delivery, ensuring that all students, especially those with SEN, can participate fully. You will contribute to fostering an inclusive classroom atmosphere where every learner feels valued and motivated to reach their full potential.
  • Progress Monitoring: Maintaining comprehensive records of student development, offering constructive feedback to educators, and assisting in the formulation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Your observations will be essential in tracking student achievements and identifying areas requiring further support.
  • Behavioral Management: Assisting in the management of classroom behavior by implementing agreed strategies and interventions. You will work to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students with SEN.
  • Emotional and Pastoral Support: Providing emotional support to students, helping them navigate any social or emotional challenges that may affect their learning. You will be instrumental in promoting the overall wellbeing of students.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young individuals, ideally in an educational context.
  • A sincere interest in assisting students with Special Educational Needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive demeanor when working with students with varied needs.
  • The capability to collaborate effectively within a team and follow the guidance of teaching staff.
