Graduate Teaching Assistant in Psychology

Position Overview:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Psychology, you will be instrumental in aiding both students and educators throughout the institution, with a focus on the Social Sciences and Special Educational Needs (SEN) departments. This role is particularly suited for psychology graduates eager to gain practical experience in the educational field, especially those contemplating a career in teaching or educational psychology. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Student Support: Collaborate closely with students requiring additional assistance, especially those facing special educational needs (SEN) or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Your grasp of psychological concepts will be vital in fostering their academic and emotional growth.
  • Classroom Assistance: Aid educators in delivering dynamic lessons, preparing instructional materials, and providing individualized or small group support to students needing extra help.
  • Behavior Management: Utilize your understanding of psychology to help maintain classroom discipline and cultivate a positive learning atmosphere, contributing to the overall welfare of the students.
  • Monitoring Progress: Observe and assess student development, offering constructive feedback to educators and assisting in the formulation of strategies to enhance student learning.

All stated pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This role is temporary, with the potential for permanent placement based on performance.
