Job Description

**Role Overview**

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who face challenges related to social, emotional, and mental health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Support: Work closely with students who have SEMH needs, providing tailored support to help them engage with their education.
  • Behavioural Management: Assist in managing classroom behavior by implementing specific strategies and interventions that cater to students with SEMH needs.
  • Emotional and Social Development: Support the emotional and social development of students by encouraging positive interactions and helping them build self-esteem and confidence.
  • Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure that the needs of students with SEMH are met.
  • Monitoring Progress: Keep detailed records of student progress and behavior, providing regular feedback to teachers and other staff members.
  • Pastoral Care: Offer pastoral support to students, helping them navigate any personal challenges they may face.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH and a commitment to supporting their development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a positive approach to working with students who may display challenging behaviors.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow the guidance of teaching and support staff.
