Graduate Teaching Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a secondary school in Denton. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in a school environment and make a real impact on the educational journey of students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, helping them to overcome any learning challenges and develop their skills across the curriculum.
  • Assist the class teacher in preparing lessons, resources, and classroom activities, ensuring that all students can engage fully in their learning.
  • Provide academic support in both core and non-core subjects, adapting your approach based on the individual needs of students.
  • Help to manage classroom behaviour, promoting a positive and focused atmosphere for learning in line with the school's policies.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, reporting any concerns or areas for improvement to the teaching staff.
  • Offer pastoral support to students, encouraging their social and emotional development alongside their academic progress.
  • Assist with any additional duties around the school, such as supervising break times, helping with extracurricular activities, or providing classroom cover when necessary.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff members to create tailored support plans for students with additional learning needs or behavioural challenges.
Requirements:
  • A recent graduate (any discipline) who is interested in pursuing a career in education or gaining classroom experience before moving into teacher training.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of varying ages and abilities.
  • A patient and empathetic approach to working with young people, with a passion for supporting their learning and development.
  • Experience working with children or young people in any capacity (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, contributing positively to the school's wider community.
  • Adaptable, with the confidence to handle different subjects and classroom situations as required.
  • A proactive and organised individual, with good time-management skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
