About the Role

We are seeking a talented Engineering Manager to lead and guide multiple squads of software engineers at Benefex Limited, a fast-moving technology company and one of the most successful providers of online reward and benefits solutions in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall execution of development roadmap features, ensuring high code quality, on-time delivery, and the professional development of your squad members.
  • Work closely with the Product Manager and Tech Lead to provide guidance and coaching to squad members on technical contributions, product roadmap, and other areas.
  • Provide feedback and help engineers grow their skills, ensuring adherence to development methodologies.
  • Standardize processes, such as agile ceremonies and code quality standards, while giving squads autonomy for effective delivery.
  • Track tasks, maintain project velocity, and own squad-level deliverables against the roadmap.
  • Use metrics to track quality and delivery, encouraging retrospective analysis for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Experience working in world-class product/tech organizations, either companies that have reached scale (e.g., Google, Microsoft, Uber).
  • Demonstrated ability in building and leading high-calibre engineering teams.
  • Understanding of technical requirements with a focus on quality, including translating product requirements into squad plans and capacity.
  • People management skills, including motivating, providing constructive feedback, managing performance, and resolving interpersonal conflicts within a team.
  • Agile expertise, including implementing and iterating on Agile processes (like Scrum or Kanban).
  • Quality champion skills, including producing high-quality code and instilling a focus on maintainability, testing, and code standards within the team.
  • Results-driven and process-oriented, balancing adherence to Agile methodologies and delivery timelines with a focus on continuous improvement.

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary of £90,000-110,000 / €105,000-€125,000 (flexible DOE).
