Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Cancer Support Specialist to become a vital member of the Colorectal and Upper Gastrointestinal Team at the University Hospital of North Midlands.

We seek a dedicated and proactive individual who possesses outstanding communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.

The individual in this role will serve as a patient advocate, providing essential support to individuals under the care of the Colorectal Surgery and Upper GI Cancer Team. This specialist will be the primary point of contact for patients, ensuring they receive prompt access to cancer services.

Collaboration with clinical and administrative teams, management, cancer services, and various internal and external stakeholders will be crucial.

Candidates should demonstrate a professional demeanor and the capacity to adapt in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

The primary function of the Support Specialist is to assist with patient inquiries and non-clinical concerns.

The Cancer Support Specialist will be accountable for liaising with patients and other departments, both within and outside the organization, to guarantee that appropriate care is delivered promptly throughout the patient's journey.

It is imperative that the Specialist collaborates closely with clinical teams to ensure that patients and their families receive the necessary support.

The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of cancer pathways, experience in supporting patients or clients, and exceptional communication skills.
