About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Hays Specialist Recruitment. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a dedicated alternative provision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Assist in creating and implementing tailored education plans that address the unique needs of students with SEN.
  • Support Engaging and Therapeutic Lessons: Collaborate with teachers and other staff to deliver engaging and therapeutic lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Work Collaboratively with a Multidisciplinary Team: Work closely with therapists, teachers, and parents to provide comprehensive support to students with SEN.
  • Monitor and Support Student Progress: Regularly monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers, adjusting support strategies as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Create a Safe and Supportive Classroom Environment: Foster a safe and supportive classroom environment that promotes emotional well-being and encourages students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
  • Provide One-on-One Support and Intervention: Offer individualized support and intervention to students requiring additional assistance, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
  • Participate in Professional Development Opportunities: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in SEN education, ensuring that you remain equipped to provide the highest level of support to students.
Requirements
  • Experience Working with SEN Students: Possess experience working with students with Special Educational Needs, demonstrating a strong understanding of their unique requirements and challenges.
  • Strong Understanding of SEN Support Methods and Strategies: Possess a solid understanding of evidence-based SEN support methods and strategies, enabling you to provide effective support to students.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Ability to Work Effectively as Part of a Team: Possess the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Patient, Empathetic, and Committed to Supporting Students with SEN: Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting students with SEN, recognizing the importance of creating a nurturing and inclusive environment.
