Position Overview

The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to become a part of our compassionate team as a Cancer Support and Information Specialist.

Key Responsibilities

You will engage directly with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality information and support regarding cancer care. This includes assessing individual needs, providing both verbal and written resources, and facilitating access to additional services. You will coordinate and mentor volunteers or newly recruited staff, working under the guidance of the Cancer Support and Information Services Manager. The role involves overseeing the daily operations of the Cancer Support and Information Centres and contributing to the development and execution of strategic initiatives. Collaboration with our wider healthcare teams is essential, as you will liaise with various stakeholders to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of our services. Effective time management and responsiveness to the needs of service users are crucial, requiring strong communication skills and emotional resilience.

Essential Qualifications

Required

A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.

Preferred

Completion of a recognized communication skills or counseling course.
