Job Purpose

The role entails managing claims across various insurance sectors, including P&I, FD&D, H&M, LOH, War, K&R, SOL, and more, along with overseeing commercial disputes that do not fall under insurance coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage P&I claims from initiation to resolution, with minimal oversight from the Head of Insurance & Claims.
  • Oversee H&M claims, collaborating with AET, MISC Marine, H&M brokers, underwriters, and adjusters to ensure effective handling from start to finish, while ensuring timely recovery collections.
  • Handle FD&D, War, K&R, SOL claims in coordination with the Head of Insurance & Claims.
  • Provide emergency and out-of-hours support for business needs.
  • Advise HR Sea, HSSE, chartering, operations, and post-fixture teams on various claims-related and commercial matters.
  • Engage with P&I Clubs regarding claims and address general inquiries.
  • Manage external consultants, including experts, surveyors, adjusters, and legal advisors as necessary.
  • Maintain the AET Claims Database effectively.
  • Follow up on outstanding claims documentation and manage general claims administration tasks.
  • Process claims debit and credit notes efficiently.
  • Assist with any additional tasks as directed by the Head of Insurance & Claims.
  • Adhere to the Company's policies and the Code of Conduct and Business Ethics (CoBE).

Qualifications

  • Education: A degree specifically related to shipping studies is preferred.
  • Experience: Background in marine claims or insurance environments, such as P&I Clubs or shipowners.
  • Specialized Knowledge: A minimum of three years in marine insurance, claims, or maritime law, with a solid understanding of shipping law. Experience in handling P&I and H&M claims is essential. Strong multitasking abilities and capacity to work with minimal supervision are required, along with commercial and cultural awareness.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, along with advanced business writing and communication capabilities.
