About the Role

As an Appropriate Adult Volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting children who are suspected of committing a crime and are detained or interviewed by the police. Your primary responsibility will be to safeguard the interests, rights, and welfare of these children, ensuring they are treated fairly and justly throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support children during police interviews and detention
  • Ensure children's rights and entitlements are respected
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for children

Requirements

  • Be over 18 years old
  • Be able to act independently from the police
  • Be willing to undertake training in the Appropriate Adult role
