Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Play Specialist to join our team in the Paediatric Ward at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, holistic play services to children and their families, ensuring that all children have access to play while in hospital.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing play programmes to enable children and young people to understand, accept, and coordinate with treatment
  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive play service
  • Providing evidence-based play interventions to support the physical, emotional, and social needs of children
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of play policies and procedures

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working as a hospital play specialist
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team
  • Evidence of good communication skills with children and young people
  • Understanding of children's safeguarding procedures
  • BTEC Certificate in Hospital Play Specialism or HPSC/HPSEB or Foundation Degree in Health Care Play Specialism
  • Registration with SOHPs
