About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Play Specialist to join our team at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Play Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, holistic play services to children and their families in a Paediatric Ward setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement play programmes to enable children and young people to understand, accept, and coordinate with treatment.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive play service.
  • Ensure all children have access to play while in hospital, promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Plan and deliver play activities that cater to the diverse needs of children and young people.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of play policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience working as a hospital play specialist in a Paediatric Ward setting.
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team to provide play services.
  • Good communication skills with children and young people.
  • Understanding of children's safeguarding procedures.
  • BTEC Certificate in Hospital Play Specialism or HPSC/HPSEB or Foundation Degree in Health Care Play Specialism.
  • Registration with SOHPs.
