Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Play Specialist to join our team at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Play Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, holistic play services to children and their families in a Paediatric Ward setting and designated paediatric ED.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing play programmes to enable children and young people to understand, accept, and coordinate with treatment.
  • Providing play services to children and their families, promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care and support for children and their families.
  • Ensuring all children have access to play while in hospital, promoting a positive and supportive environment.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience working as a hospital play specialist.
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Evidence of good communication skills with children and young people.
  • Understanding of children's safeguarding procedures.
  • BTEC Certificate in Hospital Play Specialism or HPSC/HPSEB or Foundation Degree in Health Care Play Specialism.
  • Registration with SOHPs.
