Play Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Play Specialist to join our team at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, holistic play services to children and their families in our Paediatric Ward and designated Paediatric ED.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing play programmes that enable children and young people to understand, accept, and coordinate with treatment.
- Providing individualized play services to children and their families, taking into account their unique needs and preferences.
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless integration of play services into patient care.
- Conducting assessments and evaluations to identify children's play needs and develop targeted interventions.
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and develop strategies for improving play services.

RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience working as a hospital play specialist or in a similar role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, young people, and healthcare professionals.
- A strong understanding of children's safeguarding procedures and the ability to apply this knowledge in practice.
- A relevant qualification in hospital play specialism, such as a BTEC Certificate or Foundation Degree in Health Care Play Specialism.
- Registration with the Society of Play Therapists (SOHPs).
