About the OEGEN Development Team
The OEGEN Development Team is dedicated to investing in renewable energy initiatives during their formative stages. Our mission is to cultivate a robust pipeline of future energy projects by investing in or collaborating with companies in the renewable sector, aiding in their growth and project execution to drive further expansion. The team engages with a diverse array of renewable technologies, including large-scale solar, rooftop solar, onshore and floating offshore wind, as well as storage projects across the UK and Europe, with ongoing global outreach.
  • In recent years, the team has formed partnerships or acquired stakes in companies such as NorGen, Wind2, Simply Blue Energy, FFNEV, Zestec, Gridsource, Nexta, and Exagen.
  • The current team comprises ten members and is poised for further growth.
  • Our primary focus areas include acquisitions and portfolio management, with most team members possessing hands-on experience in renewable project development, speaking five languages and representing six different nationalities.
About the Portfolio Management Team
Within the Development Team, the Portfolio Management Team plays a crucial role in fostering relationships with new partners to generate project opportunities and support their development. This role involves close collaboration with senior executives in investee companies, as well as directors within Octopus, to drive proprietary deal flow and enhance value for portfolio businesses.
The Role of Commercial Governance & Operations in the Portfolio Team:
Commercial governance and operations are essential for managing risk and maximizing value within the Portfolio Team. Responsibilities include optimizing relationship management through effective board meetings, steering committees, and regular catch-ups to ensure collaboration and compliance with partners and clients.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate business plans and documentation to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Provide voting recommendations to Directors and assist in decision-making processes.
  • Ensure adherence to various agreements and uphold standards.
  • Oversee governance and management cycles for efficiency and compliance.
  • Coordinate with internal teams for approvals and manage processes.
  • Monitor risk registers, track progress, and address issues promptly.
  • Facilitate onboarding and sales processes for new investments.
  • Manage reporting cycles to deliver accurate updates in a timely manner.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial governance & operations or a related area.
  • Understanding of corporate governance and legal frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and business plan assessment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Experience in managing efficient governance cycles.
  • Expertise in coordinating actions, inputs, and supporting decision-making.
  • Outstanding modeling skills.
