About Us:
Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service (SFRS) is on the lookout for a dedicated and skilled ICT Engineer to become a part of our ICT, Strategy & Intelligence Department (SID). This role presents an exciting opportunity to engage in a vibrant environment and play a crucial role in delivering technical support across the service.

Key Details:

Hours: 37 hours per week (Green Book) - Flexible working arrangements available. Location: Headquarters.

Role Overview: The ICT Engineer will be an integral member of the service desk team, responsible for ensuring effective technical support within the organization. This position encompasses both first and second-line support duties.

Key Duties:

Deliver first and second-level support for all ICT resources, including fault identification, reporting, escalation, and collaboration with external contractors for prompt resolution. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders and third-party contractors, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution. Stay informed about existing and emerging technologies, influencing user requirements, and working alongside the technical team on ongoing and future projects. Provide high-level technical advice and guidance to management, assessing infrastructure and system proposals, and ensuring compliance with technical standards. Interpret user requirements, develop project proposals, and communicate work schedules for both internal and external stakeholders.

Person Specification: Qualifications/Experience:

HNC in a computer-related field or a minimum of 2 years of experience in a computer-related environment. Familiarity with the development and implementation of both front-end and back-end systems. Understanding of voice and data networking solutions.

Knowledge & Skills:

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft operating systems and software. Extensive knowledge of available hardware solutions, including servers, PCs, and printers. Previous experience with 'thin client' technology and Cisco Networking Systems for an integrated IP infrastructure.

Personal Competencies:

Manual Handling. Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills. Effective time management abilities. Logical thinker with a keen attention to detail. Capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Self-motivated and able to influence and inspire others. Current Driving Licence.
