Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled occupational therapist to join our General Surgical team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. You will work closely alongside the clinical lead occupational therapist for Trauma & Orthopaedics, providing specialist assessment, consultancy, and intervention of patients' occupational needs within the inpatient setting.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee, coordinate, and develop the surgical occupational therapy service at the Princess Royal University Hospital.
  • Provide clinical and professional leadership to a team of qualified members of staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Carry a caseload of patients with complex health and social care needs, using evidence-based practice and client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Maintain a high standard of autonomous working and supervision of others in complex assessment, treatment, and discharge planning.
  • Identify areas for service development and lead projects to improve the quality and efficiency of the service.
  • Participate in relevant meetings as a representative of the team and advise on service developments in line with government policy.

Requirements

  • Hold a degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and be HCPC registered.
  • Have a strong understanding of the principles of occupational therapy and its application in a hospital setting.
  • Be able to work autonomously and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have a commitment to continuous professional development and a desire to contribute to the further development of occupational therapy services.
