Patient Pathway Admissions Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to join our Theatres Admissions team. In this role, you will facilitate the efficient management and scheduling of theatre appointments, collaborating closely with various multi-disciplinary teams. Your primary responsibility will be to provide administrative assistance while monitoring the patient journey, ensuring seamless transitions throughout their care pathway. This position is crucial for guaranteeing timely access to services, addressing any patient inquiries, and directing them to appropriate resources. Your contributions will significantly enhance the clinical teams' efforts to optimize patient experiences and outcomes.

As the main point of contact for all administrative matters concerning patient care pathways, you will engage with general practitioners, specialists, and nursing staff. A successful candidate will be a team-oriented professional with outstanding communication and organizational abilities, capable of thriving in a dynamic and demanding environment while possessing strong IT competencies.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will serve as the primary liaison for all administrative concerns related to patient care pathways. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective management of the patient journey from initial referral through to discharge, facilitating a smooth process at every stage. Additionally, you will oversee and delegate tasks within the Point of Delivery (POD) team.

Your role will be instrumental in maintaining high levels of satisfaction among both patients and clinicians by being an approachable, knowledgeable, and customer-focused resource. You will implement a consistent approach across the organization, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that all functions are executed accurately and within designated timelines.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • GCSE Level Maths and English (Grade AC) or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in an administrative role.

Desirable

  • A Level or equivalent qualification.
  • Familiarity with Patient Administration Systems (PAS) and Cerner.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in roles related to cancer services or clinic coordination.
