An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker within the Clinical Decisions Unit of our Emergency Department.
**This position is a fixed-term contract for 5 months, requiring full-time commitment (37.5 hours per week). The working hours are from 12:00 midday to 24:00 midnight, across 7 days a week.**
The Emergency Department Clinical Decision Unit (EDCDU) is located in the designated area for minor cases within the Emergency Department, accommodating a maximum of 8 patients in standard seating.
This unit has been established for patients awaiting confirmation of safe discharge, which is contingent upon pending tests and/or a brief observation period, along with any necessary treatments. Patients are expected to be admitted and discharged from this area within a 4-hour timeframe.
Patients must be fully mobile and capable of sitting in standard chairs.
As the Senior Healthcare Support Worker assigned to this unit, you will collaborate closely with the Emergency Department team to ensure optimal utilization of the EDCDU.
Your responsibilities will include performing a variety of clinical and non-clinical healthcare tasks as outlined in the Band 3 HCSW Job Description.
Your role will involve monitoring assigned patients, ensuring their comfort, keeping them informed about their care plan, and conducting necessary observations. Additionally, you will provide refreshments as needed.
You may also be tasked with assisting the minors' coordinator and tracker in overseeing patients in the waiting area who require admission but do not yet have a designated bed. This may involve completing observations and paperwork, as well as ensuring they receive refreshments.
