We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gastroenterology Consultant with General Medicine expertise to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality gastroenterology services, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement specialized gastroenterology services to extend the spectrum of services offered at Weston General Hospital.
- Support the endoscopy service with upper and lower endoscopy procedures, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient service delivery.
- Undertake inpatient responsibility for the gastroenterology ward on a rotational basis, demonstrating strong clinical leadership and decision-making skills.
- Participate in the emergency endoscopy rota and G(I)M on-call rota, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligibility for specialist registration within six months of interview.
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in gastroenterology and general medicine.
- Registered with JAG as competent in diagnostic and therapeutic OGD, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy.
- Ability to take responsibility for delivering services without direct supervision, demonstrating strong clinical leadership and decision-making skills.
- Higher academic qualification in gastroenterology or a related field.
- Evidence of a special interest and expertise in gastroenterology, complementing the skills and expertise of other consultants in the department.
- Broad range of IT skills, including proficiency in electronic patient records and other clinical systems.
