The Ministry of Defence employs a diverse workforce of over 50,000 Civil Servants, with approximately 7,000 dedicated to the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) across more than 300 locations. Our roles encompass a wide range of functions, including trainers, human resources specialists, educators, psychologists, storekeepers, financial experts, project managers, and policy staff. Utilizing data to understand our workforce is essential for our operations.

Headquarters Southeast (HQSE) operates as an independent Regional Point of Command (RPoC), integrating Regular Army personnel, Civil Service staff, Army Reservists, and contractors. HQSE is responsible for the Army's interests in the South-East region, focusing on key areas such as UK Operations, Firm Base, Engagement, and Cadets. The scope of responsibilities is extensive, covering everything from assurance of the Field Army to command of UK Resilience Operations, all crucial for the Army's success.

This role is pivotal in delivering support to the Army's infrastructure, which enhances the lived experience of Service Personnel and their families. The Headquarters is dedicated to providing Real Life Support to Units in the region and engaging with the civilian community and employers.

Key Responsibilities

The HEO Medical Health Advisor serves as the primary medical consultant to the Commander, coordinating all medical activities within the region. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the Commander’s Monthly Case Review (CMCR) conducted by units across the Area of Responsibility (AOR) and performing trend analysis to inform the Formation Health Committee.
  • Organizing the biennial Formation Health Committee and preparing the Commander for the HQ Regional Command meeting.
  • Maintaining awareness of health and well-being issues across the region and liaising with external stakeholders to escalate concerns through the Chain of Command.
  • Ensuring the development of Medical Plans for all units within the AOR.
  • Coordinating all reserve medical referrals and requests for specialized clinical opinions.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, both as a collaborative team member and when working independently. Strong organizational skills and confidence in problem-solving are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience.

Experience in a welfare role, whether civilian or military, is advantageous, as is experience in staff management. The ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment with shifting priorities is crucial, and familiarity with Office 365 is beneficial.
