Position Overview

Role Summary

DP World is a pivotal player in the global trade landscape, offering essential trading infrastructure and innovative logistical solutions to enhance our clients' operations.

We are seeking a Technical Support Specialist to join our Technical Support Services Team. This team is dedicated to delivering exceptional support to numerous manufacturing facilities across Europe. The role involves providing top-tier second-line assistance and contributing to the establishment of IT infrastructure for new business initiatives.

Your primary responsibilities will include delivering first and second-level support for various end-user devices, including laptops, desktops, printers, and barcode scanners. You will also implement standards set by the systems and network engineering teams, focusing on desktop, WAN, LAN, servers, and disaster recovery planning.

Location: Primarily based in the UK, with occasional travel required to various sites.

Working Hours: Standard full-time hours with a paid on-call rotation.

Contract Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver first and second-level support for all end-user devices, ensuring efficient operation and user satisfaction.
  • Provide diagnostic assistance to the Systems and Network Engineering Teams, aiding in the support of various facilities.
  • Develop and update operational documentation for new and existing processes, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
  • Participate in a global on-call support rotation, responding promptly to support requests and maintaining connectivity to the company network.
  • Monitor service desk notifications and address or escalate issues as necessary.
  • Assist with change management processes during on-call periods.
  • Adhere to established change, incident, and problem management protocols, escalating issues as needed.
  • Proactively identify and report security concerns, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Provide on-site support during new site launches and infrastructure upgrades.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Background

A degree in computer science or equivalent professional training and certification, complemented by relevant technical experience.

Professional Skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail with a strong ability to document processes and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interaction with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to maintain confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of desktop hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Familiarity with network systems and protocols, as well as server hardware and operating systems.
  • Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical personnel.
  • Proficient in identifying root causes of issues and developing innovative solutions.
  • Strong collaborative skills, capable of working independently while also engaging with diverse teams.
  • Willingness to travel as required for site support.
  • Fluency in English is essential; additional languages such as German or Spanish are advantageous.
