Assistant Store Manager
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £23,985 + performance-based bonus
Our client, a reputable family-owned retail business with a strong presence in the Yorkshire area, is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to collaborate with the Store Manager in enhancing business operations from their newly established head office/showroom in Rotherham.
As the Assistant Store Manager, you will assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations, leading the sales team, and ensuring the store achieves its sales objectives while delivering outstanding customer service. Your role will be crucial in boosting sales, managing inventory, and fostering a welcoming shopping environment for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing all facets of store operations, including opening and closing duties, inventory oversight, visual merchandising, and adherence to company policies.
- Support in establishing sales targets and tracking the sales team's performance metrics. Provide coaching, guidance, and training to team members to help them meet and exceed sales objectives. Inspire and motivate the team to enhance sales growth.
- Ensure exceptional customer service is delivered consistently. Train and empower the sales team to offer product knowledge, address customer inquiries, and resolve issues or complaints efficiently.
- Oversee inventory management, including stock replenishment, monitoring stock levels, and maintaining accurate records. Collaborate with suppliers and the purchasing team to ensure optimal stock levels and product variety.
- Create attractive displays, effectively showcase products, and improve the overall store atmosphere. Ensure displays are regularly updated and comply with company guidelines and seasonal promotions.
- Analyze sales data, generate reports, and provide insights to senior management regarding sales performance, customer trends, and product preferences. Make informed decisions to enhance sales strategies and drive business growth.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and developing a high-performing sales team. Schedule shifts, allocate resources effectively, and ensure sufficient staffing levels to meet customer needs. Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with brands and suppliers, monitor product quality and delivery, and collaborate on marketing initiatives and promotional activities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment for employees and customers. Implement and enforce safety protocols, emergency procedures, and security measures.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities. Identify growth opportunities and potential threats, implementing strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
The ideal candidate will act as the Store Manager's deputy in their absence, taking responsibility for all store operations. You should possess strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a sales team. Excellent customer service skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a solid understanding of inventory management, visual merchandising, and retail sales techniques are essential. Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and other retail-related tools is also required.
A background in retail, particularly in electrical goods, along with a passion for service and sales, is preferred.
