Our client, a reputable family-owned retail business with a strong presence in the Yorkshire area, is seeking a dedicated Assistant Store Manager to collaborate with the Store Manager in enhancing business performance from their newly established headquarters/showroom in Rotherham.
As the Assistant Store Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Store Manager by overseeing daily operations, leading the sales team, and ensuring the store achieves its sales objectives while delivering outstanding customer service. Your contributions will be vital in driving sales, managing inventory, and fostering a welcoming shopping environment for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing all facets of store operations, including opening and closing duties, inventory oversight, visual merchandising, and adherence to company policies.
- Help establish sales targets and track the sales team's performance metrics. Provide coaching, support, and training to team members to meet and exceed sales objectives. Inspire and motivate the team to enhance sales growth.
- Ensure exceptional customer service is delivered consistently. Train and empower the sales team to possess product knowledge, address customer inquiries, and resolve issues or complaints effectively.
- Oversee inventory management, including stock replenishment, monitoring stock levels, and maintaining accurate records. Collaborate with suppliers and the purchasing team to ensure optimal stock levels and product variety.
- Create attractive displays, effectively showcase products, and improve the overall store atmosphere. Ensure displays are regularly updated in line with company guidelines and seasonal promotions.
- Analyze sales data, generate reports, and provide insights to senior management regarding sales performance, customer trends, and product preferences. Utilize data-driven insights to refine sales strategies and promote business growth.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and developing a high-performing sales team. Schedule shifts, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure sufficient staffing levels to meet customer needs. Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brands and suppliers, monitor product quality and delivery, and collaborate on marketing initiatives and promotional activities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment for both employees and customers. Implement and enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities. Identify growth opportunities and potential challenges, implementing strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
The ideal candidate will be capable of stepping in for the Store Manager during their absence, taking charge of all store operations. You should possess strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a sales team. Excellent customer service skills, strong analytical abilities, and problem-solving capabilities are essential for driving sales performance and operational efficiency. A solid understanding of inventory management, visual merchandising, and retail sales techniques is also required. Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software is necessary.
The preferred candidate will have a background in retail, particularly in the electrical goods sector, and a genuine passion for service and sales.
