Mass Properties Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Mass Properties Specialist to join our team at Synergize Consulting, a global Defence client with headquarters in the U.K. This is a hybrid remote opportunity with a competitive salary up to £52k (dependent on location and experience).

Key Requirements:

  • British national with no dual nationality or citizenship
  • Security cleared or willing to be security cleared

The ideal candidate will have experience working on Submarines, Aerospace, or Automotive projects, with a strong background in Mechanical Design and Electrical design.

Responsibilities:
  • Collate mass property data for equipment and systems to deliver weight and centroid control on multi-billion-pound submarine programmes
  • Support the Mass Properties Lead to aggregate weight and centroid reports and present the status to senior leaders
  • Collaborate with system design engineers to estimate mass, centroid, and design maturity of multiple mechanical and electronic systems
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of parts mass properties
  • Provide input to and lead weight saving strategies and maintain the list of weight risk and opportunities for each discipline area
  • Interrogate CAD models to determine estimates for mass properties with associated uncertainties
  • Utilise statistical analysis to provide a whole boat picture of weight risk and opportunity to senior leaders, stakeholders, and customers
Essential Skills:
  • Mass Properties or Weights engineering experience is essential
  • Electrical design background would be a distinct advantage
  • Strong background in Mechanical Design
  • Working in a safety critical environment (Aerospace/Nuclear etc)
  • Qualified in STEM subject (Ideally Mechanical Engineering)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
