Job Title: Mass Properties Specialist

Role Overview:

As a Mass Properties Specialist, you will play a vital role in managing mass property data for advanced submarine programs. Your expertise will ensure precise weight and centroid control, contributing to the success of multi-billion-pound projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyze mass property data for various systems and equipment to maintain weight and centroid accuracy.
  • Assist the Mass Properties Lead in compiling weight and centroid reports, presenting findings to senior engineering leaders.
  • Work collaboratively with design engineers to estimate mass, centroid, and design maturity for mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Maintain an extensive database of mass properties for various components.
  • Contribute to and spearhead weight reduction initiatives, tracking weight risks and opportunities across disciplines.
  • Examine CAD models to derive estimates for mass properties, accounting for uncertainties.
  • Employ statistical methods to provide a comprehensive overview of weight risks and opportunities to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Degree in a STEM field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or a clear pathway to achieving this recognition.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with large, intricate electrical or mechanical systems.
  • Background in data analysis, including visualization and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and related tools.
