Job Title: Mass Properties Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and analyze mass property data for systems and equipment to ensure effective weight and centroid management on high-value submarine projects.
- Assist the Mass Properties Lead in compiling weight and centroid reports, presenting findings to senior engineering leadership.
- Work closely with design engineers to accurately assess mass, centroid, and design readiness of various mechanical and electronic systems.
- Maintain an extensive database of mass properties for different components.
- Contribute to and spearhead weight reduction initiatives while tracking weight-related risks and opportunities across various engineering disciplines.
- Examine CAD models to derive estimates for mass properties, including associated uncertainties.
- Employ statistical methods to provide a comprehensive overview of weight risks and opportunities to senior management and stakeholders.
Required Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Degree in a STEM field or equivalent professional experience.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or a clear path to achieving professional accreditation.
- Proven ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Desirable:
- Experience with large, intricate electrical or mechanical systems.
- Background in data analysis, including data interpretation, visualization, manipulation, and presentation. Familiarity with CAD software.

The Weight Engineering Team comprises a diverse group of engineers and data scientists dedicated to estimating, compiling, and presenting mass properties data for several high-value submarine programs. This specialized team plays a vital role in the overall design and safety assurance of submarine projects.
