About the Role

The People Advisor plays a key role in the People and Culture team at Octavia, covering all aspects of employee relations, employment legislation, HRIS, recruitment, and retention. This role is responsible for providing advice and guidance to managers on various HR-related matters, including employee relations, employment legislation, and HR best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and support to managers on employee relations issues, including discipline, sickness absence, diversity, capability, grievance, and performance management.
  • Collate and analyze information to produce reports that contribute to decision-making, performance monitoring, and employee lifecycle management.
  • Manage recruitment and selection campaigns, ensuring the most suitable candidates are hired and retained.
  • Ensure compliance with onboarding requirements, payroll audits, and DBS checks.
  • Work with the L&D Manager to design and deliver learning and development activities, including staff and management development training.
  • Contribute to the development of the People strategy, supporting Octavia's corporate and business objectives.
  • Support key people projects, including recruitment, resourcing, onboarding, reward, performance management, organizational development, and employee engagement.
  • Undertake research and develop new policies and procedures in response to changes in employment legislation.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices, legislative changes, and new developments to continuously develop and improve knowledge and skills.
  • Proactively contribute to the development and growth mindset of the People & Culture team, creating an environment for the team and organization to thrive.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • HR experience in a generalist HR advisory capacity.
  • CIPD Part-qualified or equivalent.
  • Experience in assisting on change projects and restructures/reorganizations and TUPE (desirable).
  • Experience of advising managers and heads of service.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Clear, accurate, and up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Sound knowledge of HR best practices.
  • Knowledge of staff engagement and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent working knowledge of relevant employment processes and practices.
