About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Specialist to join our team at NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board. As an IPC Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our community care settings to maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized IPC advice and support to care homes, domiciliary care, supported living, and other community settings to ensure compliance with national requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training packages to community providers to embed IPC knowledge and improve practices within services.
  • Conduct audits to assess IPC practices and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the UKHSA Health Protection Team to provide outbreak management support and implement actions to control the spread of communicable disease.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and community settings to promote IPC practices and address barriers to understanding.
Requirements
  • First-level Registered Nurse Adult (RNA) or Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration and eligible to practice.
  • BSc Nursing, Infection Prevention and Control, or post-registration specialist course at BSc level or equivalent.
  • Post-registration teaching and assessing qualification (e.g., Mentorship, ENB 998, or City and Guilds 730).
  • Post-registration qualification in infection prevention and control and/or infectious disease management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
