We are looking for a skilled nurse to become part of the leadership team in our infection disease wards. The successful applicant will serve as a role model in clinical care, mentor junior staff, manage resources efficiently, and play a crucial role in the patient care continuum and within the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the nursing team in providing top-tier clinical care to patients with a variety of infectious diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

- Actively engage in the management and enhancement of integrated, multidisciplinary care for patients and their families.

- Assume accountability for overseeing all levels of nursing staff, acting as the line manager for the department, and in the absence of the Senior Nurse, take overall responsibility for the planning, execution, and assessment of nursing care.

- Serve as a professional resource for the multidisciplinary team caring for patients with infectious diseases.

The Infection Control Nurse Leader is responsible for guiding the nursing team in delivering outstanding care to patients with a wide range of infections. They play a vital role in the management and development of cohesive, multidisciplinary care for patients and their families. They support the Senior Nurse and, in their absence, take charge of the planning, execution, and evaluation of nursing care while mentoring junior nursing staff and addressing any issues with the senior nursing team.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse.
  • First level degree in a related field (or in progress).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Completion of the national PEAP program for practice supervisors or an equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.

Desirable

  • Master's level degree.

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive post-registration experience at Band 5.
  • Significant experience in an acute care environment.
  • Relevant experience in caring for patients with infections.
  • Proven ability to deliver education and training to patients and staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborative work within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Evidence of leadership and management in an acute care setting.
  • Experience in applying research and audit in practice.
  • Proven track record in managing and evaluating change.
  • Effective resource management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience at Band 6.
  • Experience in caring for patients with challenging behaviors.
