Sheffield, Sheffield, United Kingdom Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

Are you an experienced pediatric nurse seeking a rewarding opportunity to enhance your skills in a community-focused environment? If you have successfully completed your preceptorship and are eager to broaden your expertise in pediatric nursing, we invite you to explore this role.

The Specialist Nursing Team provides essential respite, ongoing care, and palliative support across various environments, including the child's home, educational institutions, and designated care facilities.

Our mission is to deliver exceptional clinical care and support to children with intricate health requirements and their families, facilitating their integration into the community and minimizing reliance on inpatient services.

We seek a dedicated and empathetic professional who values respect and strives for excellence in their practice. You will embody our organizational values and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve caring for patients with diverse health challenges, including long-term ventilation, tracheostomy management, seizure control, and specialized nutritional support through NG or gastrostomy methods. Additionally, you will collaborate with our Palliative Care Team to provide community-based pediatric palliative care.

You will be tasked with updating ongoing care assessments, developing care plans, conducting risk evaluations, and offering education and support to parents and caregivers, under the guidance of senior nursing personnel. Your responsibilities will also encompass some supervisory duties over junior care staff, including Assistant Practitioners and Nursing Associates.

This position presents an excellent opportunity to transition into community nursing while maintaining strong connections with the multidisciplinary team within the main healthcare organization.
