We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic finance professional to join our Capital Finance team as a Principal Accountant. This is a key role in supporting the team through change, ensuring a smooth adaptation to our new finance system and processes.
The Principal Accountant will play a crucial role in helping to support the team through change, ensuring excellent engagement with our Future Finance Project to support the development of and the transition to the new system and processes within the team, and with our service managers and budget holders.
It is essential that core capital activities are maintained during this period of change. The Principal Accountant will play a key role in supporting the delivery of medium-term and annual budgets, reporting of financial performance during the year and at year-end, and in maintaining capital financial controls.
The postholder will also have direct responsibility for a portfolio of capital projects, providing strategic support and advice to our service colleagues, and will have one direct report.
Strong interpersonal skills, IT, and analytical skills are all key in this role. A sound understanding of accounting principles is essential, as is a positive approach to issue resolution and the ability to organize and prioritize often conflicting demands in order to achieve deadlines.
