About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Lead to join our Psycho-Oncology team at The Christie NHS FT. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our psychological nursing services, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Lead the development and implementation of our psychological nursing services, ensuring alignment with Trust and national standards.
    • Manage and supervise a team of mental health nurses, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent patient care.
    • Collaborate with other clinical teams to ensure seamless care pathways and effective communication.
  • Clinical Expertise
    • Provide expert clinical leadership in the development and implementation of psychological nursing services, ensuring evidence-based practice and best outcomes for patients.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of Trust-wide policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with national standards and best practice.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Education and Development
    • Develop and deliver education and training programs for mental health nurses, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to provide excellent patient care.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of Trust-wide education and training programs, ensuring alignment with national standards and best practice.
    • Participate in research and audit activities, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with other clinical teams, ensuring seamless care pathways and effective communication.
    • Collaborate with other stakeholders, including patients, families, and carers, to ensure their needs are met and their voices are heard.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of Trust-wide communication strategies, ensuring alignment with national standards and best practice.
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Lead who possesses the following qualities:

  • Qualifications
    • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
    • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. nursing, psychology)
  • Experience
    • Significant experience in mental health nursing, including leadership and management roles
    • Experience in psycho-oncology or a related field
  • Skills
    • Excellent leadership and management skills
    • Strong clinical expertise in mental health nursing
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Knowledge
    • Specialist knowledge of mental health nursing and psycho-oncology
    • Knowledge of national standards and best practice in mental health nursing
