About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Lead to join our Psycho-Oncology team at The Christie NHS FT. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our psychological nursing services, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Lead the development and implementation of our psychological nursing services, ensuring alignment with Trust and national standards.
    • Manage and supervise a team of mental health nurses, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent patient care.
    • Collaborate with other clinical teams to ensure seamless care pathways and effective communication.
  • Clinical Expertise
    • Provide expert clinical leadership in the development and implementation of psychological nursing services, ensuring evidence-based practice and best outcomes for patients.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of Trust-wide policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with national standards and best practice.
    • Collaborate with other clinical teams to ensure effective care pathways and communication.
  • Education and Development
    • Develop and deliver education and training programs for mental health nurses, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to provide excellent patient care.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of Trust-wide education and training programs, ensuring alignment with national standards and best practice.
    • Collaborate with other clinical teams to ensure effective education and training programs.
  • Research and Audit
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of research and audit projects, ensuring alignment with Trust and national standards.
    • Collaborate with other clinical teams to ensure effective research and audit projects.
    • Disseminate research and audit findings through presentations and publications, ensuring the sharing of best practice and knowledge.
    Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Lead with:

  • Essential Qualifications
    • RMN qualification
    • Degree in Nursing or health-related study
    • NMC Registration
  • Desirable Qualifications
    • Master's Degree
    • Experience in delivering psychological therapy
    • Experience of non-medical prescribing
  • Essential Experience
    • Post-registration experience in acute care for adult psychiatric nursing, including undertaking risk assessments
    • Post-registration experience, including working at a senior clinical level
    • Experience in liaison psychiatry or a relevant clinical specialty involving serious physical illness
  • Desirable Experience
    • Experience of working within an oncology setting
    • Experience of working with a complex care team
    • Experience of working within a given resource and ability to demonstrate imaginative and effective use of resources
  • Skills
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills
    • Able to analyze data and provide written reports
    • Able to work autonomously
    • Evidence of effective team working across professional and organizational boundaries
    • Experience in teaching and providing supervision to others (including non-mental health professionals)
    • Exhibit leadership skills
    • Intermediate IT skills
  • Knowledge
    • Specialist knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
    • Knowledge of professional and NHS issues and policy relating to specialist area
    • Evidence-based knowledge in relevant clinical specialty
    • Evidence of continuing professional development
    • Able to demonstrate wide knowledge of current trends in nursing and application to practice
