About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of Sanctions. As a key member of our Financial Crime Risk department, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our business strategy is compliant with Sanctions policy, external laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the bank-wide Sanctions policy, ensuring that it is reflective of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice to our business to put in place operating procedures and controls to meet the bank's and local policy requirements.
  • Oversee sanctions name screening and transaction filtering systems to ensure effective risk management.
  • Represent the bank externally on Sanctions matters, building relationships with stakeholders and industry partners.
  • Lead a team to undertake complex sanctions investigations, providing guidance and advice on transactions, customers, or situations that involve complex Sanctions matters.

Requirements

  • Deep Sanctions subject matter expertise, with a robust and broad understanding of risk management principles and regulatory framework.
  • Technical expertise of relevant political and legislative developments across the financial industry.
  • Ability to guide and influence business representatives on related matters.
  • Industry engagement on Sanctions matters, with knowledge of the regulatory environment, divisional frameworks, and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of broader risk disciplines, including the ability to build trust and demonstrate value.
