About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Sanctions to join our team at NatWest Group. As a key member of our Financial Crime Risk department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the bank's compliance with sanctions policy, external laws, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the bank-wide sanctions policy, ensuring it is reflective of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provide SME advice to the business on operating procedures and controls to meet the bank's and local policy requirements.
  • Oversee sanctions name screening and transaction filtering systems.
  • Represent the bank externally on sanctions matters.
  • Lead a team to undertake complex sanctions investigations, building relationships with the business and delivering advice on transactions, customers, or situations involving complex sanctions matters.

Requirements

  • Deep sanctions subject matter expertise.
  • Robust and broad understanding of risk management principles and regulatory frameworks.
  • Technical expertise of relevant political and legislative developments across the financial industry.
  • Ability to guide and influence business representatives on related matters.
  • Industry engagement on sanctions matters.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment, divisional frameworks, and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of broader risk disciplines.
  • Ability to build trust and demonstrate value, applying expertise to credibly influence customers and stakeholders.
