Position Overview
We invite candidates to consider a trainee band 4 position (annex 21 will apply - discussed during the interview)
To qualify for this training, applicants must meet the following criteria: The minimum requirements to enroll in the course (as per University of Brighton guidance; please note that this course is also supported at East Sussex College, and entry criteria may vary slightly):
Level 3 qualification (or higher), such as an Advanced Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care; a BTEC National Diploma (pass), or Certificate (merit); two A-levels (including maths and English GCSE grade C); an Open University Course in Health and Social Care-related subjects like SDK125; subject-related NVQ level 3 (including key skills in English and maths at level 2) along with a Skills for Health: Bridging Skills for Higher Education course.
- Maths & English GCSE grade C/4+ or Functional skills level 2
- Care Certificate - to be completed once in position - this course is also supported at East Sussex College
- Band 3 staff considering applying for this band 4 trainee role and meeting the above criteria are encouraged to apply
If candidates possess relevant and substantial work experience but lack a recognized level three qualification, this will be evaluated on an individual basis.
Please note that this is a two-year program, and Assistant Practitioners will attend university one day a week during term time, while also having one day per week dedicated to off-the-job learning outside of term. Candidates must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities
The AHP Support Worker / Associate Practitioner role requires specific competencies and skills within the relevant department.
At this level, the post holder is expected to possess factual and theoretical knowledge of principles, procedures, processes, and concepts pertinent to the area of work.
The post holder's work is guided by SOPs, protocols, or systems of work, but they must exercise judgment, plan activities, contribute to service development, and demonstrate self-improvement.
The post holder will provide practical training to less experienced staff, including students.
