Business Development Manager

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our New Business Development team at Womble Bond Dickinson. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in identifying opportunities to win new work from pipelines of clients, prospects, and targets in agreed sectors and markets.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of business development pipelines, working closely with sector leaders and partners to embed our sector go-to-market strategy, grow and broaden relationships with clients, and build new relationships with defined prospect lists.
- Support sector leaders to champion a sales-driven culture, sharing knowledge internally to ensure all relevant stakeholders are aware of sector developments and objectives.
- Build relationships and collaborate with colleagues in the US and Lex Mundi network to develop cross-border opportunities and ensure a global firm approach to presenting our capabilities to the market.
- Coach and support Client Partners on business development efforts with nominated clients, prospects, and targets in the business development pipeline.
- Work with the Marketing Planning & Campaigns team to develop business development and marketing materials to support our efforts, including standard brochures, credentials, and capability statements.
- Collaborate with Client Partners and client teams to attend meetings with clients and prospects as appropriate, and represent the firm externally at relevant conferences and events.
- Support our flagship marketing campaigns and ensure follow-up on generated opportunities.
- Promote Microsoft Dynamics and Introhive as part of our CRM toolkit.
- Support the Bids & Tenders team on pitches to clients and prospects in your business development pipeline.
- Work closely with our Data, Content & Insights team to leverage client listening programme learnings to improve business development and CRM efforts.
- Help onboard new clients in priority sectors and set the foundations for exceptional client experiences.
- Collaborate with our Knowledge Management, Know-How, and Information Services teams to present clients in your business development pipeline with our value-added capabilities in training, insights, innovation, legal technology, DEI, and ESG.
- Support business groups and teams with legal directory submissions using approved boilerplate copy and a structured approach.
- The M&BD strategy we've defined follows a thorough review and has been signed off by the Board, ensuring we're serious and committed to our approach.
- You'll work alongside a group of partners who are hungry and focused on the same market, creating an energetic and collaborative environment.
- Our Marketing Planning & Campaigns team will work closely with you to manage the marketing plan, forming a tight team with sector and market leaders.
- We've completed a large-scale qualitative and quantitative research project, providing valuable insights to inform your approaches to target decision-makers.
- We have exciting flagship marketing campaigns in the pipeline, supporting your business development efforts and helping us secure meetings with key stakeholders.
- We're strengthening our relationships with colleagues in the US, offering opportunities for cross-border collaboration and international growth.
- Experience in building relationships with people in different roles and levels of seniority across a business.
- Experience of working alongside senior people, coaching, and influencing them on business development approaches.
- The ability to immerse yourself in a particular market, understanding trends, issues, and opportunities.
- Experience in business development in B2B or professional services.
