About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our New Business Development team at Womble Bond Dickinson. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in identifying opportunities to win new work from pipelines of clients, prospects, and targets in agreed sectors and markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of business development pipelines, working closely with sector leaders and partners to embed our sector go-to-market strategy, grow and broaden relationships with clients, and build new relationships with defined prospect lists.
  • Support sector leaders to champion a sales-driven culture, sharing knowledge internally to ensure all relevant stakeholders are aware of sector developments and objectives.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with colleagues in the US and Lex Mundi network to develop cross-border opportunities and ensure a global firm approach to presenting our capabilities to the market.
  • Coach and support Client Partners on business development efforts with nominated clients, prospects, and targets in the business development pipeline.
  • Work with the Marketing Planning & Campaigns team to develop business development and marketing materials to support our efforts, including standard brochures, credentials, and capability statements.
  • Collaborate with Client Partners and client teams to attend meetings with clients and prospects as appropriate, and represent the firm externally at relevant conferences and events.
What You'll Achieve
  • Support our flagship marketing campaigns and ensure follow-up on generated opportunities.
  • Promote Microsoft Dynamics and Introhive as part of our CRM toolkit.
  • Support the Bids & Tenders team on pitches to clients and prospects in your business development pipeline.
  • Work closely with our Data, Content & Insights team to leverage client listening programme learnings to improve business development and CRM efforts.
  • Help onboard new clients in priority sectors and set the foundations for exceptional client experiences.
  • Collaborate with our Knowledge Management, Know-How, and Information Services teams to present clients in your business development pipeline with our value-added capabilities in training, insights, innovation, legal technology, DEI, and ESG.
  • Support business groups and teams with legal directory submissions using approved boilerplate copy and a structured approach.

What We're Looking For
  • Experience in building relationships with people in different roles and levels of seniority across a business.
  • Experience of working alongside senior people, coaching, and influencing them on business development approaches.
  • The ability to immerse yourself in a particular market, understanding trends, issues, and opportunities.
  • Experience in business development in B2B or professional services.
